Andrew “Andy” Peters Davis was born and attended high school in Franklin County, Tennessee, where he graduated with honors and excelled playing football, basketball and soccer. After graduating, he attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and played outside linebacker for the Redhawks in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Andy decided in the junior year of his undergraduate work to study abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia where he focused on business and law. Andy returned to Miami to finish his senior year where he was chosen to participate in an international business summer law program where he traveled throughout Europe learning about many countries while studying their differing approaches and applications to business and law. After graduating from Miami University with a business degree with a focus on legal studies, he received his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. Following law school, he returned to Winchester, Tennessee and joined Davis, Kessler & Davis.
Andy is more than capable of handling cases of all degrees boasting an incredible level of success in civil matters like car wrecks, medical malpractice, wrongful death, as well as cases ranging from the unfortunate DUI to serious felony charges. Andy takes an approach to providing legal advice coined the “Arthurian Method” in which he and several other lawyers discuss multiple different paths to get the client the best results. Brainstorming with the greatest legal minds in the area is Andy’s secret to success. Andy is able to adapt and handle almost any matter.
Since the beginning of his legal career Andy has proven results. In his first two years, Andy won his first six jury trials and since then he has persistently achieved success. He has been selected by The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 for the past four years for his astounding list of triumphs. For example, in his last five personal injury jury trials, the verdict each jury returned was a full five times over the insurance company’s final offer of settlement prior to trial.
In addition to his success in personal injury trials, Andy was selected by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys as one of the 10 BEST ATTORNEYS in Tennessee with exceptional and outstanding client services. Andy’s most recent criminal trial was tried before a jury for three days but when the members of the jury retired for deliberations within less than a half hour return a verdict of not guilty. This consistent winning allows for powerful negotiating on behalf of his clients. Andy understands every client has different desires and listens to any special requests of his clients. If it is the Sewanee student who has to have a clear criminal record after college; the Bonnaroo goer who just feels his rights have been violated; or the client who faces a lifetime of imprisonment – Andy listens and formulates a defensive strategy to meet their desired outcome.
It is well known– Andy will fight and take a case all the way to a final verdict because he believes it is morally wrong to sell out for anything less than what’s right. Every case coming across his desk isn’t “another case”, it’s your case and Andy treats it as if he is the one sitting in your place. Andy has proudly handled cases from Florida to Boston, Massachusetts and from California to Philadelphia Pennsylvania so he will gladly go anywhere if justice requires it for his clients. Despite the occasional serious case taking him out of the State of Tennessee, Andy’s primary representation area stretches through Eastern and Middle Tennessee with a heavy focus between Nashville to Davis, Kessler, and Davis’s newest office in Chattanooga where he can be found working on important cases.
His success is not limited to the courtroom. Andy is happily married with two twin babies Aiston and Liv along with a pair of wonderful dogs, Fancy and Cubbie. Fancy “the bulldog” can be found often assisting Andy with his most difficult cases and greeting clients as they enter the Winchester office.
As a father, husband and Tennessean, Andy takes pleasure in donating his time to help others who are trying to better themselves. Andy volunteers his services to successful participants of Blue Monarch, a rehabilitation center that provides care to women battling drug addiction. If you’re a loving mother taking the steps to make a change in your life, but you no longer have custody over your child or children, Andy would be the one to help remove your criminal troubles and stand by you in civil custody court. He also routinely donates his time to the Franklin County Drug Recovery Court Program; and same as in the Blue Monarch Program, if the participant is excelling in his recovery and legal services can assist his or her recovery then Andy will be there to help. He has also helped champion many important causes supporting the community- he led the charge for the people of Franklin County by mailing over 2000 letters to Governor Haslam requesting the Governor to provide funding for the Franklin County Industrial Technology College. In 2017, the Governor approved the 8.4 million project which is currently under construction and will hopefully benefit the generations to follow.
Andy acknowledges he is in the “bad news” business. Often times, when an attorney’s services are necessary this means something bad has inevitably occurred. Whether it is dealing with severe injuries, arrest, bankruptcy or permanent disability, Andy has a remarkable talent for navigating his clients through the worst times by finding the best way forward. Turning bad news into good news is the secret to success! As famously stated, ‘You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.”
